Oh, we truly are blessed to be raising our children at this time in history. All around us we see signs that our culture, based on domination and power-over, is collapsing. We can trust that a new paradigm is unfolding, one that promises more peace, sustainability, and joy.
The same is true for how children are being raised. There are many, many sources of inspiration for parents who are ready to transcend coercion, control, and domination over children and to create something entirely different. Natural parenting, attachment parenting, unconditional parenting, playful parenting, peaceful parenting...the list goes on. Any subtle differences pale in comparison to the fundamental similarities between these approaches.
Be kind to children. That really is the bottom line. As parents, we can strive to live in harmony with our kids, we can honour them and respect them as whole human beings and we can treat them with dignity and uncompromising love.
Although you may feel alone on this path more often than you'd like, our of place with the mainstream, you are NOT alone. You can trust your heart and your intuition and be kind.
As the culture of parenting shifts, the language of domination, power over and misplaced responsibilty will be less common...
