self-care and playdough recipe

Hello friends

THIS ISSUE
*self-care
*playdough recipe

Self-care. We hear that term often, yet what does it really mean. It is so much more than taking time to brush our teeth, yet some days, even that is a stretch! Maybe genuine self care doesn't need to take a bunch of time. Rather it is a way of being. Listen. Nourish. Create.

Listen.
With all of your awareness in the present moment, no matter how CHAOTIC this moment is, listen deeply. What are you feeling? What are you needing? What are you making up? This listening does not happen in the brain (which is usually busy demanding that we follow the day's plan, and do more, faster, better). When you are being caring with yourself, you listen to your energy. Where does it direct you now? To clean the bathroom? To call that friend? To connect with your child? To take a breath? Let go of the brain's demands and listen. Trust that you are being guided and all the tasks will get done in the right time.

Nourish
Listening also tells us what it is we need for nourishment. Again, that brain may lead us astray! What is it you are hungry for? Cold, left-over scrambled eggs may not be the thing. What part of you is doing the hungering? Is it really your stomach, or something else? Drink some water and take a breath. Maybe you are called to just wash your face or sprint up and down the stairs to clear out the fog. Put all the lists aside, sit down, and eat what you truly desire.

Create
What do you long to create? The process of creating, whether something quick and simple, or something grand, feeds a deeper part of ourselves, our soul. Humans have a fundamental need to create. Paint, draw, sculpt and build with your child (or by yourself!). Craft a letter, make a pillow, start that business, whatever it is that feels good (feeling good is good!), go for it. Like taking your vitamins. Sometimes you'll end up doing what you had planned, but as you approach it with the mindset that you are creating something, your experience will be completely altered.
