the most important list

hello friends

It is natural to be happy.

the most important list
What kind of people do you want your children to be?

Make a list.
That’s what devoted parents do. They think about their vision, write it down, look at it often, and reflect on how to make it reality. This powerful act can help you maintain a perspective that improves your parenting on a daily basis. * It might be the most important list you make. And don’t stop there.

Learn from the best
Parents need quality information** to be effective. Do not assume that just because you were parented, that you will automatically know how to do it better. Many clients come to me distraught because they are doing exactly what their parents did, in spite of their pledge not to. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting different results. Educate yourself about how to be the parent that your children need (not to mention what the world needs).

Walk the talk
Knowledge is helpful, however, for most people there is a gap between knowing what to do and actually making it who you are. Most caregivers love their children and believe wholeheartedly in the value of parenting. Yet, to walk the talk requires an investment in time, energy and money. Committed people, in business, athletics, and in life, hire experts to help them achieve the results they desire. The same is true for parenting.

Parent coaching
When you hire a qualified parenting coach, you make an investment in yourself and your children that is worth every minute and every dollar. You benefit from a powerful structure of regular calls to motivate you, inspire you, and provide on-going loving attention and expertise. Feeling overwhelmed, at the end of your ropes, desperate, confused, worried, and furious is NOT natural or necessary.

Your natural state is to feel happy, empowered, and content, and to share this radiant well-being with your children, every day.

*Alfie Kohn provides support for this statement in his book, Unconditional Parenting.
