joy is your natural way of being.
Happiness, frustration, every single feeling comes and goes. So do our thoughts. Thoughts and feelings are just the ripples on the very surface of the ocean and JOY is the deep deep ocean itself. That's who you are.
Dive below your passing thoughts and feelings and you will discover your true self-deep and abiding peace and joy. It's not conditional, not attached to anything being any particular way in your life situation. It's bigger than all that.
It is there, always. Dive in and allow it to flow into your awareness. Notice.
Young children feel it. They know JOY. When they are tired, they are tired. When they are hungry, they are hungry. When they are scared, they are scared. You get the point:)
They know what it is to just BE. They don't complicate it like we do with thoughts about the past (which is dead) or the future (which is imagined...we don't even know what the next MINUTE will bring.). There is only NOW.
Children are the teachers. Get out of your mind and get into right now. What is your learning today?
