how to use feeleez poster

Here are a few ideas we’d like to share with you:

  • ask your child which feeleez they are feeling right now. Encourage them to point to it.
  • if two children are struggling, ask them each to point to the feeleez which they are feeling, then point to the one which they think their sister (brother, friend) is feeling.
  • which feeleez do you want to be feeling now?
  • what do you need to help you feel what you want to be feeling?

The poster helps children identify and communicate their feelings and to learn to empathize with others. We’ve found that when you ask most children what they are feeling, they will say “good”, rather than identify the specific emotion. The other thing is that when we, as the adults, suggest a feeling (are you sad? Mad?), the child often agrees, even if what they are feeling is different. The poster gives them options which they can relate to.

Have fun with it and let us know your own ideas and stories!
