As a mother of two young children and a social work professional I wanted to provide a snapshot of my personal experience with MY FEELEZ POSTER.
For me it made sense to laminate my poster and provide writing utensils that could be applied to whatever imaginary play or teaching opportunity that was created out of talking and drawing on the poster.
One child points to a picture and says that's you mom when you're happy and one child points to another and says that's Dad when he's mad at me and that's me when I'm sad.
It doesn't get any clearer then that..children do want to express their feelings, they just need the right medium to get those feelings across. I know that living with them 24/7 I am not always the one who is making them happy, but living life is about having feelings and working through them together, toddlers (2-5) don't understand long winded explanations much but they do identify with core emotions of happiness, sadness, frustration, excitement and wonder. I love the experiences MY FEELEZ poster has afforded me, I plan on adding more opportunities to the emotional play as these children develop further.
